Transtibial prostheses
They consist, in most cases, of the following components:
- carbon fiber
- prosthetic socket
- silicone liner
- adaptor and tube and outside
- foam cover
This is probably the most important level of amputation, as it is addressed to most patients. The majority of these patients will replace the amputation with an extra leg, without any complications. Patients who undergo tibial amputation are much more likely to proceed with a prosthesis than those who are amputated above the knee. Mainly due to the mechanical advantages, the maintenance, of the knee joint.
Tibial prosthesis construction
For the tibial socket design, we rely on the principle of loading the patellar ligament, while partially transferring the load to the areas on either side of the tibia and to the entire surface of the stump gastrocnemius. With this technique, the load is distributed correctly (total contact), while at the same time the sensitive areas of the maxillary field and the anterior rim of the tibia are protected.
For the application of the tibial socket with the stump, we mainly use the silicone or polyurethane liners. Due to the increased durability, but also the comfort they provide to the patient, they are very user friendly and have been implemented with great success.
In terms of features, what we want is:
- the peripheral end of the tibial stump should be 12-15 cm,
- the bony ends of the tibia and fibula should be properly shaped and adequately covered with soft molecules.
This biomechanical condition ensures the required height difference for the placement of the prosthetic ankle joint, while at the same time it offers our patient an adequate tibial lever, for an effective control of the prosthesis.
For the tibial prostheses, the correct choice of the ankle joint - the prosthetic foot - is also of major importance. We give the patient the opportunity to try different types of soles, always taking into account the K levels of his activity. We choose the mechanisms that will provide dynamism and energy in every activity of the patient.
In our company, we use the latest generation materials, such as carbon fiber (carbon), titanium and silicone. We manufacture artificial limbs based on their perfect application, making use of advanced technology systems.

Chronopoulos's goal is to continuously improve prosthetic replacement, expanding the effectiveness of the prosthetic limbs it offers to patients.
We like to develop new approaches to improving the production and development of artificial limbs. Our research also focuses on improving patients' mobility and comfort and preventing injuries.
Until 2013, Michail Seitis was a track and field athlete with his dream of participating in the Olympic Games. Then, through a series of coincidences, he was involved in a very serious car accident, which cost him his leg. Just three years later, he will take part in the Rio Paralympic Games. And since then he will continue to make us proud.
