Silicone Liner
This is a soft interface, which the patient wears on his stump and before the prosthetic socket. It concerns patients with lower limb or upper limb amputation.
Its main function is:
- to keep the stump healthy, without irritation, allowing the prosthesis to be applied for a longer period of time
- to absorb the forces created when the patient rotates in the prosthesis
There are many different liners on the market and the prosthetist will choose the best one for each patient. They are made in basic or conical shape, from hypoallergenic materials, with pin, ring, etc.
Their choice is based on many factors, such as:
- suspension type
- activity level (K1, K2, K3, K4)
- skin sensitivity
- patient dexterity
- bones and soft tissue
- stump shape
In addition to mass productive liners, there are also custom made liners. If the stump has an irregular shape or is very large, then we use specially designed silicones.
