Upper extremity training exercises
Exercise should begin immediately after amputation, as soon as the patient is medically stable enough to exercise. Often, these exercises can be started even when medical equipment, such as drains, is connected to the patient.
It is essential to follow a rehabilitation program tailored to your individual needs that will aim to maintain or improve your mobility and muscle strength while helping to successfully use your future intention. Always start these exercises according to your doctor's instructions. A prerequisite is a relaxing position and controlled, calm breathing, in order to avoid postoperative complications of the respiratory system. Do not hold your breath as it may cause your blood pressure to rise. Do the exercises slowly and with smooth movements to avoid injuries.
